Argentina CUIT Lookup API: Company Name, Legal Form and Registered Activities

This guide shows how to look up a company in Argentina by CUIT with Verifik’s API: the endpoint, its parameters, a request you can paste into a terminal, the documented response and errors, and what to watch for when you put it in production. Everything below comes from the official endpoint documentation.

Company records in Argentina

The Clave Única de Identificación Tributaria (CUIT) is the tax ID assigned by Argentina’s federal tax agency, ARCA (formerly AFIP). It has 11 digits: a two-digit type prefix (30, 33 or 34 for companies; 20, 23, 24 or 27 for individuals), the base number and a check digit.

Verifik’s endpoint returns the business name, legal form, contract date and the main and secondary activities with their codes and start dates.

How to call the Argentina CUIT API

Endpoint: GET https://api.verifik.co/v2/ar/company. Send your token in the Authorization: Bearer header. Parameters, as documented:

A successful call returns HTTP 200 with a data object containing: businessName, contractDate, documentNumber, documentType, economicActivities, legalForm. Every response also carries a signature (timestamp and “Certified by Verifik.co”) and a unique id you can store as evidence of the check.

Documented errors for /v2/ar/company

• 404 NotFound (“Record not found”): no record was found; do not treat it as a match and route the case to review or ask for another document.

Integration tips

• Send the 11 digits without hyphens (20-12345678-3 becomes 20123456783).
• Check the prefix: a CUIT starting with 20, 23, 24 or 27 belongs to an individual, not a company.
• Use the activity start dates to spot shell companies that changed activity right before applying.
• A 404 means no record was found for that CUIT.

Personal data and terms of use

Company records can include personal data about partners, officers or representatives. Use the API only for a lawful purpose you can document, such as onboarding, fraud prevention or contract checks, collect consent where the local law requires it, and keep only the fields you need. Usage is governed by the smartCHECK terms and conditions.
