This guide shows how to verify a CI in Bolivia with Verifik’s API: the endpoint, its parameters, a request you can paste into a terminal, the documented response and errors, and what to watch for when you put it in production. Everything below comes from the official endpoint documentation.
About the CI in Bolivia
In Bolivia the cédula de identidad (CI) is issued by SEGIP, the Servicio General de Identificación Personal. Banks, cooperatives, microfinance lenders and mobile operators ask for it at onboarding, and it is the reference number on most contracts.
The Verifik endpoint uses the document type CI and requires the holder’s date of birth, which must match the record. The response returns the name split into first and last name plus the date of birth.

Documented errors for /v2/bo/cedula
- 400
INVALID_DOCUMENT(“Invalid document number”): the document number failed validation; ask the user to re-check it before retrying.
Integration tips
- Send
dateOfBirthasDD/MM/YYYY. Note the response returns it in ISO format (YYYY-MM-DD), so normalize both before comparing. - A 400
INVALID_DOCUMENTmeans the number did not pass validation; ask the user to check it rather than retrying. - If the birth date does not match the record, the check fails; ask the user to confirm it against the physical card before retrying.
- Keep the
signatureandidfields as audit evidence.
Personal data and terms of use
Identity lookups process personal data. Use the API only for a lawful purpose you can document, such as onboarding, fraud prevention or contract checks, collect consent where the local law requires it, and keep only the fields you need. Usage is governed by the smartCHECK terms and conditions.
Pricing
Each successful request consumes credits from your Verifik plan. Current plans and per-endpoint costs are on the smartCHECK pricing page.
